I recently drove to NH and Maine. This is the route I went. I came home a different and I really wish I had gone this way.

This was my route:

86 North

right on 158 right on 29 north left on River Rd rt 6 to 64 west to 81 then 81 north.

Oct 3, 2026. It’s 7:16 in the morning I’m on RT 86 heading north out of Hillsborough. I had to wait for the sun to come out.

My road trip song is America by Simon & Garfunkel. That’s what I sing in my head while I’m driving along and what better way to go on the great American road trip if you do it in the fall and head towards New England, where there family, food and firey leaves.

It’s 7:57 AM 69° and I’m in Danville Virginia and you can see leaves slightly changing on route 29 N. in Virginia and it’s just a great route because it’s like highway but then there’s little towns so I’m loving it.

I think I’m in Lynchburg Virginia and I stopped. There was a Wawa and I knew it was here cause I stopped here last year on the way home. It was a grand opening and I was like oh clean bathrooms and then I forgot they have the most yummy Cuban coffee and a great coffee bar. You can just make coffee the way you like it and I was so happy. Trying to explain to this lady how happy I was to see a Wawa. She probably thought I was nuts.

I’m always happy to see a Wawa.

1134 and I’m in Virginia somewhere and it’s 56° and I’ve driven 228 miles and getting 36.2 miles per gallon. I’m gonna drive by Harrisburg and head towards North Conway, New Hampshire. I don’t know where I’m gonna end up. It’s 12:51 and I just drove into West Virginia. Had to take a little break bathroom break.

Just drove into Maryland and it’s 70°. it’s 1:47 PM it’s 69°

I just drove into Pennsylvania. i’m about 40 miles south of Harrisburg and that’s where I aimed but I think I’m gonna just gonna drive right by it. I know that I go past I’ve got to get to Scranton or if I keep on driving I’ll be in New York State. I’m just gonna see how it goes because its 2:18 in the afternoon. It’s too early to pull over.

Ended up in Scranton at an Econolodge. When I pulled up it looked really bad from the outside but the person working there was very nice and the room was spotless.

The Econo Lodge Scranton near Montage Mountain is a budget hotel located at 1175 Kane St, Scranton, PA 18505.

The things you need to know when driving on 80 north is its a great route without a lot of traffic but you have to do things when you see them. When you see coffee you need to buy it and when you see a bathroom use it because there may not be a bathroom for miles.

I brought alone a blanket and pillow just in case but never got to use it. Always good to have it. You never know.
