To review : Christopher Collins was the Mayor of Stuart but he had to step down when he ran for Martin County Commissioner. Sean Reed then became Mayor. ( and he’s done a great job.) We had these elections. Eula got to stay , Campbell Rich got to stay (but by only a few votes so really no mandate) and Merritt Matheson was voted back in.
When the meeting was basically over Sean asks if there is anything else. Campbell nominates Laura to be vice mayor. Laura is great! No issue there. But at that point even Eula says something like don’t we do this at another time. Then he says that Sean needs to leave and that Eula should be the mayor. And they vote on this and Sean literally has to unseat himself as the mayor and hand it over to Eula. Merritt Matheson voted for this also.
At 2:03 you can hear the arrogant evil laugh of Campbell Rich.
Then we find out the entire thing was planned. It was tit for tat vindictive and really ugly. I have words but not very nice words. Three people conspired to do this to Sean.

What does the Mayor do?
The Mayor of Stuart, Florida, serves as the recognized head of the city government and presides over the City Commission.
Core Role and Duties
- Head of Government: Acts as the official ceremonial and political head of the city.
- Commission Leadership: Presides over City Commission meetings, helps set the agenda, and guides discussions among the five elected commissioners.
- Voting Member: Shares equal legislative voting power with the other commissioners on local laws, policies, and the municipal budget.
- Signatory: Executes official city documents, contracts, agreements, and resolutions approved by the commission.
- Community Representative: Represents Stuart at public events, intergovernmental meetings, and official functions.
Eula has been Mayor 4 times. Sean may never get this chance again. He was doing a great job. He should have been left there until December.
Eula Clark you know this is wrong and you have been given so much grace. Please step down and give it back to Sean. Do the right thing!
